Lexie’s journey began by studying fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. After graduation, she stayed in New York where she worked in buying and styling. Lexie loves to style and truly enjoys making people feel and look their best. Lexie’s mother-in-law, Vicky, had a stay-at-home daycare for 20 years; having retail and business management experience before raising her family. Vicky’s husband Mick was our third partner who understood the financial piece of the business and has been part of the strategic business decisions. Our partnership began when Lexie relocated back to her home in Buffalo to start her life with Pat, Vicky’s son. The three formed a unique partnership that utilized each of their strengths to the fullest.
In 2010, Lexie and Vicky began doing ‘pop-up’ shopping parties in people’s homes as well as launching the Blush website. In 2013 they opened their first brick-and-mortar store on Elmwood Avenue in downtown Buffalo. This 600-square-foot space became Blush’s flagship location. With the outpouring of support from the community, their business grew and they opened a second location in 2015 in the Village of Orchard Park. To support their growth and expand their brand, the team opened location number three in Williamsville in 2016 and four in East Aurora in 2018. The team also grew with the addition of Michelle Boltz as store manager in 2016.
When the world changed and Covid hit in 2020, Vicky, Lexie & Michelle had to get creative to survive the new normal. The Blush “Lives” were born. It was clear that the company had to shift its strategy and focus even more online. To support this new strategy, the team acquired a new building in Orchard Park late in 2020 that could support the new business model and also serve as the new hub. As part of the new normal, Blush consolidated its four locations into two brick-and-mortar locations, one in Orchard Park and the Village of Williamsville.
In the fall of 2019, Vicky was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Despite her diagnosis, she continued to help the business evolve with her unmatched passion. Her fight was courageous and she continued to work at the store that she loved while she navigated treatments for almost three years. In June of 2022, Vicky lost her battle with cancer. Her loss was devastating to our family and the Blush family. While we knew things would never be the same, she inspired us to continue the dream that we call Blush.
Since 2010, Blush has evolved into much more than just a boutique. We pride ourselves on having created a family that includes our employees and our customers. We strive to have a positive impact on women. It makes our hearts happy when clients get compliments on items purchased at Blush. We hope to continue our dream and share the love of fashion with women all over the world from Buffalo, New York!
